Team Associated modeled the SC8e race truck after Curt, Kyle, and Todd LeDuc’s short-course race trucks as raced in the televised Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series. Armed with drawings of the actual 1:1 short-course race trucks, our design team was able to reproduce the scale specs in the compact package of the SC8e. Based on the 7-time National Champion RC10T4, the brushed RC10T4.1 is a fully assembled truck that features many of the components from the RC10T4 Team kit, while incorporating a totally new 2.4 GHz XP3-SS 3-Channel radio system and SHV1504 MG metal gear steering servo. Power is supplied by a 17-turn Reedy motor while the XP SC200 electronic speed control with LiPo cutoff provides smooth throttle control. We just had to get one, it was inevitable. I’ll be the first to admit that after the Traxxas Slash was released I thought the short course race truck craze was nothing but a fad that would soon be all but forgotten. After all these are nothing more than stadium trucks with different tires and a larger body. What could really be that great? Then one day at the local hobby shop I saw one sitting on the shelf begging to be bought and the rest, as they say, is history. Here goes, our Team associated SC10 build.

Team Associated today released news that I think a lot of you are going to find interesting. When the SC8 was released many enthusiasts cried out because it was only available in a nitro version. Today that things have changed. Sure you can still only buy the SC8 in nitro format but for those really adamant about converting it to electric your problems have been solved. Meet the Team Associated E-Conversion Kit. It features a rigid one piece motor mount, a molded battery tray, and proper gearing. All that is required to complete your electric conversion is a motor, ESC, and batteries. More info after the jump.

R/C Car Action Magazine was on hand yesterday for the first public showing of the new Team Associated SC8 at the full size Corr race in Pomona, CA. RCCA’s John Cary said that the truck was definitely 1/8 buggy based but that a large portion of the platform was changed for scale realism including additions like a true BFG tread pattern, KMC wheel designs, and the decals installed on each body.
