Here is official promo video of the Venom Creeper Rock Crawler.
We can’t believe how far rock crawling has come. It seems like almost every day we hear of yet another new crawler kit being released. Today’s new crawler is the Venom Creeper. According to Venom the Creeper was designed with the die hard rock crawling enthusiast in mind and fits into the 2.2 rock crawling class. Much like the Traxxas Summit the Creeper features differentials that can be remotely locked with an optional kit or can be manually locked and unlocked via a switch on the axle case.

Even though we already introduced you to the Axial SCX10 late last week we thought you’d like to see some of the pictures Axial released today of the scale crawler and some of the optional accessories they have planned for it. One of the things we really didn’t care for about the SCX10 was all that green. Granted on the AX10 those parts looked good in green, but with a scale truck it doesn’t seem to “work”. Axial has that covered with beadlock rings in four new colors and wheels and hub covers in new colors as well.

Thanks to a post by Axial in the RCCrawler forums we’ve got some more information about the Axial SCX10. Axial was able to confirm that the axles on the SCX10 will be the same as those used in the AX10 but they were able to get the width of the truck down a little by using negative offset wheel. There has been some question about the performance of this truck due to the battery being mounted in the rear of the truck. Well according to Axial that shouldn’t be a concern because the truck can easily be configured with the battery mounted front or rear. As for the steering setup Axial commented that they kept the servo mounted on the front axle like the AX10 but are working on optional kits that would allow alternate (frame) mounting solutions. One last thing Axial confirmed was that the kit will indeed be including the new, and yet to be revealed, Pro-Line 1.9″ tires. The Pro-Line tires weren’t available in time for the IHobby Expo so Axial opted to mount a set of RC4WD Rock Crushers on there for the time being.
In this video RCCA speaks to a Traxxas representative about the new Traxxas Summit Rock Crawler. According to the video the Summit will be hitting the shelves of your local hobby shop by December.
In this video RCCA Magazine speaks to a Pro-Line representative about latest new bodies they have available for the Traxxas Slash and more interestingly a new conversion kit that turns your 1/5 scale HPI Baja 5B buggy into a desert truck. According to the rep the kit includes the Proline Desert Rat body, and a set of larger truck tires that are sized to fit the stock rear wheels of the 5B which are mounted both front and rear. The video also showcases a new set of wheels that Pro-Line has produced for this specific application.
In this video RCCA takes a closer look at the Axial SCX10 Scale Crawler. We’ll keep you posted as more information becomes available.
Could it be? I think this picture speaks for itself. Apparently Tamiya is going to finally re-release the Jeep Wrangler body but this time it’ll be appearing on the CR01 rock crawling chassis. Upon first look we just assumed it would be another lexan shell, but word is that it’s going to actually be a hard body. Only time will tell how well this thing performs with that heavy hardbody mounted up high, but regardless if the rumors are true the scale community will finally have another chance at getting their hands on the Jeep Wrangler hard body! Click the picture on the left for a better view.
Update: Word is that this vehicle will come in “semi assembled” form. According to the Tamiya USA website the beadlocks, transmission, and drive shafts will come pre-assembled to reduce the overall time it takes to assemble this kit. Personally I don’t like the direction Tamiya is going in with this. Hopefully they won’t start depriving us of the joy of building the entire vehicle in future kits. Please Tamiya, don’t take the hobby out of this hobby.

In this video RCCA takes a look a close up look at the new Traxxas Summit rock crawler at the IHobby Expo.
You heard right, Traxxas is planning on producing a 1/16 scale version of the E-Revo powered by a 380 size Velineon brushless system that will propel it up to speeds of 40mph. Traxxas must also be listening to everyone’s demands for an electric version of the Traxxas Slayer because they’re also planning on selling a 1/16 scale “Slayer EX” which will be running a scaled down version of the Revo suspension. Rumor is these will be available by February 2009. More info to come.

After much speculation Traxxas has finally unveiled their much anticipated rock crawler. Meet the Traxxas Summit. The Summit gives you the ability to lock the differentials and shift from low to high gear right from the transmitter. No need to break from the action to swap gears or install locking parts. Tear up the trail in “high” with a 25:1 ratio for dirt-slinging speed. When the terrain turns technical, drop it into “low” for a 70:1 ratio and unreal climbing torque. For the ultimate in climbing traction, flip the T-Lock™ switch to lock the front differential. Need even more grip? Activate the rear T-Lock diff for fully-loaded 4WD power no matter which tire is gripping or slipping.
