Hi new here

Postby dtdragon » Thu, Jan 07, 2010 5:18 pm

was Im new to the forum, Ive been doing rcs for lets say a long time. I have quit a few. I am haveing a problem with whats going to be my last ground based rc. I had an origanal clod buster back in 1990's, built it into a clodzilla. had the truck for a while was my favorite. But due to lack of money i sold, have allways hated i did it. well sence then ive had many rc's. well im at a point i can get another crawler type truck, I want a clod again, but not sure if i should get it or an axial crawler? i live in Florida so not a lot for places to crawl. but still plenty of places to still clim things. what do you guys think go old school and get another clodzilla or go high teck axial.
Thanks guys

Whether you get an axial or clod really depends on what you want to do with it because they're completely different beasts. (I've owned both, three clods actually) Compared to most rc trucks the clod is pretty slow but an axial crawler will make the clod seem like a speed demon. If you're not into really slow crawling then the axial isn't for you. On the other hand before buying my axial I was really skeptical about how fun a crawler could be and was surprised to find that it was pretty addictive. Your best bet is to look on YouTube to get a better idea of what the crawlers are like a decide if you'd rather have that more than feeling the nostalgia of building another clod.

BTW nice truck'

Yea quick, I really wanted to get an axial as I had an old Tamyain jeep thats in mint shape that would have been a perfect scaler. But as I was running out of time last night, I jumped on the clod. Its a nice rig, the guy had built 2 of them. He said they have been sitting on his shelf for years. I bought one, it had a clodzilla IV kit. He said it was mint, pretty much everything was new. Looked like it in the pics.
Wasnt sure if I had made the rite choice, I owned a orig. 89 clod that I had built into a first gen. clodzilla, but sold when i had my first son. regretted it sence, mostly why I bought.
Well if I decide I want to go the other way i could probly sell and get my money back. Ill post some pics when I get next week, work on it some and go from there.
thank for the comments, and nice to meet ya

clod all the way. now about the clodzilla... may want to look at other options. yeah you can get the zilla 2 new on ebay for $100, but there are some mighty nice setups out there for not a lot more. the only problem is most (if not all) of the modern chassis use a crazy long wheelbase. but then, so do the clodzilla chassis. all that said, i am building a zilla 2 based truck now. bought it used with the esp chassis and suspension. i hate the long wheelbase and odd suspension geometry, cause no decent looking bodies fit it properly. so i'm cutting it all up to make it fit the parma 67 ford pickup body.
